Los Roques de Garcia

A great hike in the centre of the Teide National Park circles around the bizarre and twisted Roques de García, a line of huge rocks that serve as a reminder of the erosive forces that shaped the park. Formed from magma, Los Roques are volcanic trenches solidified into walls of stone.

Much harder than the surrounding rock, this cooled magma has kept his form while the softer surrounding material eroded away The biggest attraction of Los Roques de Garcia is the unusual shaped red rock called Cinchado. This 27m high solitary rock pillar looks impressive.

Dragon Tree

El Drago, the world’s oldest and biggest dragon tree, rises above the main road on the western side of Icod de los Vinos. Its dimensions are impressive: – 17 m high with a 6 m trunk circumference.

But its true fame comes from its age. It’s thought to be at least 600 years old.

The Dragon tree got its name from the red rubbery substance that pours out when the bark or the leaves are cut. It is said to be the dried blood of dragons and was used in ancient times as cure for illnesses. The age of normal trees can be determined from the number of rings on the trunk, by the dragon tree, you have to count the number of forks on the trunk that turn up each time the tree comes into flower.

Timanfaya National Park

The fascinating volcanic landscape of the Timanfaya National Park should be on the list of every holidaymaker visiting Lanzarote. The unique moon-like landscape as we see it today has been created by the volcanic eruptions that covered the whole island in ashes 200 years ago.

The volcanic activity is still present and the surface temperature in the core ranges from 100 to 600 °C at the depth of 13 meters. Visitors can witness how a small amount of water introduced into a hole in the ground bursts out as massive geyser and how dry grass inserted in such hole, is burned instantly due to the extreme hot temperature a few meters under the surface.

The eruptions left about 100 volcano craters that one can admire during a guided tour around the National Park. You can make your trip by bus or take a short ride on a camel’s back discovering the rare plant species that managed to survive this hostile environment.

Don’t miss out a fantastic walk in this park. We offer you the most enjoyable holiday homes in Tias, Macher and Yaiza

Cueva Bonita

An absolutely romantic destination is the Cueva Bonita on the island of La Palma. This cave is only accessible from the sea and hides not far from Prois de Candelaria.
The 10 meter high cave ends on a long stony beach. You should definitely visit the cave in the afternoon, when the sunlight shines into the cave.
The whole cave is lit by the reflections and the blue shimmer from the water. But the best time is said to be sunset, when the cave fills with the reddish light of the dusk.
