Fuerteventura Beaches

Fuerteventura's coastline is a heaven for sun worshippers and water sports enthusiasts. There are countless beaches offering something for all the tastes. Some of them are wild and isolated, while others are vibrating hotspots of tourist activity.

Fuerteventura’s best beaches are in the south of the island with endless stretches of sand resembling the Caribbeans. Our holiday homes in Fuerteventura are located only short walks away from the most popular beaches.

Morro Jable has a spectacular wide arc of sand, an excellent water-sports centre and a long promenade for joggers and strollers. It is a relaxed family resort with wonderful beaches offering a variety of beach activities. The vast, light-colored beach with fine sand is the main attraction and the nearby restaurants provide a diverse cuisine for the hungry visitor. There are also opportunities for catamaran sailing trips along the coast.

Jandía

If you’re looking for pristine beaches away from the crowds you should make a trip to Jandia or Sotavento which are both located in the south of the island. Wonderful bays, empty beaches, white and fine sand, lagoons and shores make this place a perfect choice for a romantic vacation in the Canary Islands.

This area is also popular with windsurfers, this is the place where the speed and slalom windsurfing world championships are held. Costa Calma lies near a small fishing village. It is popular resort that attracts tourists offering a golden beach with glittering white sands and sparkling clear waters.
The beach stretches far into the distance and is overlooked by the extinct Pico de Zarza volcano.

The silky sands are perfect for stretching out all day, and if you need some extra comfort, you’ll also find sun loungers and sunshades. Corralejo is in the north of the island is the most popular tourist spot of Fuerteventura. The beaches flanking the town are ideal for families with a good selection bars and restaurants.

Gran Canaria Beaches

The golden dunes of Maspalomas and the elegant sandy curve of Playa de las Canteras are two of the great beaches of Gran Canaria – the former a mini-Sahara of shifting sands, the latter a superb city beach, animated from morning until dawn. The sunny resorts of the southwest have well maintained, safe, artificial beaches; while elsewhere in the island the locals get down to the coast to enjoy the small sandy coves and their lively restaurants. Playa de las Canteras in Las Palmas is a superb city beach with calm, sheltered waters perfect for sun, swimming and people watching. Put on your snorkel and swim with the fish in the crystalline waters of the capital’s 3-km golden beach. A rocky reef keeps the waves back, making this a superb place for families to swim.

Further south, the reef ends and surfers take advantage of the breaks. If you prefer to stay dry, take a gentle stroll along the promenade and stop for a seafood lunch. Maspalomas Beach is Gran Canaria’s supreme beach.

Families favor the calmer seas near the lighthouse while the section closest to Playa del Inglés is used by nudists. Some consider it the most beautiful of all the beaches of the island. The long stretch of white sand is backed by vast dunes, set against the blue sea.

If you get tired of the beach there is much fun to be found in the nearby surroundings or just a few kilometers north of Maspalomas with attractions such as the Aquasur, Holiday World or the Sioux City. Playa del Inglés is Maspalomas’s closest neighbor is one of the island’s busiest beaches, but it’s large enough for everybody to enjoy its fine golden sand. Located in the largest tourist area of the island it is the biggest holiday complex of the islands. This fun-and-sun beach offers all sorts of leisure and sports activities such as jet-ski, sailing, windsurfing, water skiing. Las Burras is a fine alternative to the busier resort beaches further along the coast. This beach is for those who don’t mind black sand and need calm waters for their children. At the far end of the beach is the San Agustin commercial center so you will find a lot of restaurants and bars there for a good lunch and afternoon shopping.

Playa de Puerto Rico is bustling and overcrowded during the high season but is still a famous family resort particularly popular with British families. Puerto Rico’s golden sand is imported from the Sahara making it an ideal playground for children. Known to be the sunniest spot of the island, this holiday resort is a true paradise for sun worshippers. Away from the beach, in a lush tropical garden with exotic plants and flowers you will find two public swimming pools. Puerto Rico is also famous for the many water sports activities on offer ranging from water-skiing, sailing, diving, and windsurfing to leisure excursions such as pleasure boat trips along the coast, dolphin watching cruises or a trip in a glass bottom boat to discover the world under the water surface.

Playa de los Amadores

Between Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogán lies another glorious man-made beach, Playa de los Amadores, which can also be reached on a 20 min walk from Puerto Rico. This extensive bay is well protected from the ocean and boasts almost one kilometer stretch of golden sands and crystal clear waters.

No ball games or radios are allowed but you can read a great book or just listen to the waves of the ocean while tanning. This beach provides excellent conditions for small children but also for the romantic people otherwise it wouldn’t be called ‘the lovers’ beach’.

Tenerife Beaches

The main tourist center of Playa de las Americas is perfect for those who want a bustling beach on their cheap holiday to Tenerife. This beach is sheltered and has calm waters, perfect for sunbathers and families with children, and it backs onto a terrific promenade that is packed with shops and restaurants. If a busy nightlife is just as important to you as relaxing on the beach in the day, Playa de las Americas is right next to the islands best clubs.

At Los Christianos you'll find every imaginable tourist facility from sun beds, shades, showers to a wealth of water sports. You can jet ski, water ski, surf, hire pedals or go banana riding.

There is a vast choice of bars and restaurants and some of the best nightlife in the Canary Islands as well. Playa Jardin is Puerto’s main beach and is rarely crowded. The promenade running alongside is lined with cafés and bars. Jardín beach is a real natural beauty of the island with several gardens created along the edge of the sand strip. It has the full range of facilities, as well as a horizontal breakwater that protects part of the swimming area. Playa de las Teresitas Northeast of Santa Cruz, this is the best sand beach on the island – and surprisingly quiet outside summer weekends. It is crescent shaped, lagoon-like bay with golden sand surrounded by crystal clear waters. The perfect setting is completed by the palm trees and the dramatic mountain backdrop. The artificial reef makes the enclosed water ideal for families with young children. There’s large car park discreetly hidden behind the line of palms at the back of the beach.

Lanzarote Beaches

The choice of water sports available on Lanzarote’s beaches won't disappoint the fans. All the main resorts - Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise offer immaculate sandy beaches, with generous sun beds and full facilities including restaurants, shops and bars along the beach promenades. Our holiday homes in Tias are a few minutes drive away from the main resort of Fuerteventura.

Playa Blanca is a beach of toasted sand of some 1,200m in length situated in the centre of Puerto del Carmen and bordered by promenade. It is easily accessible and has clear waters providing all types of services. The golden beach gently slopes into the water making it safe for beginners.

Puerto de Carmen is Lanzarote's busiest resort area with Playa Grande at its centre - a one-kilometer stretch of golden sand flanked by bars, restaurants, shops and ice cream stands. Here you can take diving lessons, rent jet skis, go para-sailing or do some snorkeling.

The Costa Teguise is the second most popular tourist area of the island after Puerto del Carmen. This part of the coastline is the closest to the island's capital. The main beach is famous amongst the windsurfing community. For something completely different, try El Golfo beach on the west coast of Lanzarote. This is a volcanic crater filled with a lagoon of emerald green sea water which provides a stark and stunning contrast with the black sand of the beach. Even the locals agree that the beaches at Papagayo are the most stunning on the island.

La Palma Beaches

Don't come to La Palma expecting endless stretches of golden sand flanked by amusement arcades and burger bars. The island has kept mass tourism away mainly because its coastline has only a small number of beaches consisting of black volcanic sand and pebbles.

Much of the coast is characterized by steep cliffs of volcanic rock and small coves, only accessible by boat. The main beaches are at Los Cancajos on the east coast and at Puerto Naos on the warmer western side of the island not far from our holiday homes in Brena Alta

Set between the steep mountainsides and the shimmering Atlantic the beaches shelter dark volcanic sands perfect for lazy, sun-washed days and cooling dips. Our holiday homes in La Palma

The waters hide colorful fish and amazing rock formations, making them heaven for snorkeling and diving. The capital Santa Cruz has a large beach, Playa de Bajamar, on the south side of the town with 700 meters of fine dark sand.

Tucked away under huge volcanic cliffs, the beachside village of Puerto Naos is a 500 meter stretch of black volcanic sand dotted with giant palms. It’s also the sunniest point on the island, so swimming and sunbathing weather is pretty much guaranteed. Our holiday homes in Tijarafe are just a few kilometers north from Puerto Naos.
